House rules

The Club Rules

  1. 01

    Food and drink stay courtside

Every court has a bar counter or table beside it. Spills, stains and broken glass are hard on the playing surface, so plates and glasses stay off the court.

  2. 02

Soft, flat shoes on the court

The courts tear and puncture under heels. Casual, comfortable shoes are best for the surface, and for your game.

  3. 03

    Under eighteen, bring an adult

Anyone under eighteen plays with an adult present on the court.

The most important rule of the house: have fun. Bocce makes that one easy.

How to Play Bocce

A few minutes and you know enough to play. Here is the whole thing, start to finish.

Indoors

Indoor Courts

Four courts, indoors,
the bar at one end.

Four of the eight run the length of the room indoors.

The Tuscan Room is a completely private dining room located near the bar, off the main floor.

Outdoors

Under the Vines

Four courts, open air,
the fireplace lit.

The outdoor courts sit on the patio under the vines, string lights overhead and the fireplace going when the evening turns. It is the half of the building people ask for between May and October, and the reason an afternoon here tends to become an evening.

The Alcove opens straight onto it, so a party of fourteen can eat beside their own game.

Private events→

Built for
Bocce.

Built by Colleoni of Italy, the family who have been laying bocce surfaces for the clubs of Bergamo for generations. They are the reason a game here plays the way it does: true, quiet and even, the same in January as in July.
